Their MD, Sara, asked me to build an easy-to-use, interactive "Talent Review" form for one of their clients.

The tool would be used by managers in the client company, to assess the career potential of individuals within their teams, through following a published behavioural psychometric approach.

The form would present the manager with a series of employee assessment questions and apply a confidential scoring system to predict the potential of the employee for future promotion on a two-dimensional chart display.

I developed the questionnaire as an Excel sheet with radio buttons to capture the multiple choice answers, and a submit button to record the assessment.

The Excel workbook carefully verified and error checked the manager's responses, and captured the employee names and summary scores in a database table. and displayed these using a custom 9-box graphical display.

The 9-box display automatically regenerated itself each time its tab was selected, using names and categories from the table. The boxes dynamically resized themselves to adjust to the space requirements of the names inside the boxes, flipping over to multi-column working as needed to preserve a square-ish layout.

Graphical design touches were added by Andrew Hodgson Design (https://www.andrewhodgsondesign.com)  after which I locked-down the workbook to protect the algorithms, to hide sensitive personal information, and to avoid managers 'gaming' the system to produce the results they wanted to see over those which the methodology determined.
